One way of developing the capacity of the refugee sector is by improving the monitoring of existing services. LORECA recently undertook a six-month pilot to introduce an online client tracking system, LORECA Link, to six Refugee Community Organisations (RCOs) across London.
The purpose of LORECA Link was to monitor the effectiveness of RCOs in moving their clients toward employment. By tracking services such as training courses that are undertaken by clients, as well as referrals between RCOs, the pilot will provide a benchmark of the effectiveness of these services.
Pilot participants included Refugee Women's Association (RWA), Refugee Employment, Education, Training and Advice Partnership (REETA), Refugee Aid and Development (RAAD), Iranian Association, Ocean Somali Community Association and Somali Teaching Group.
Over time, such a system could be used to improve service delivery in the sector, by providing an essential monitoring and evaluation role.
An evaluation of the pilot was completed in December 2006. The report can be downloaded here (244 KB).
